High quality factors such as prime location, vineyard management/hand-tended vines, low yields rigorous fruit selection, a state of the art winery, a competent winemaker with the latest winemaking tools/equipment and the best quality French oak barrels all come at enormous costs. In truth, it is difficult to produce a superlative, knock out bottle of wine every vintage . . . but we try.
At Kenefick Ranch, the wine-making begins in the vineyard and is completed in the cellar – our philosophy places equal emphasis on both. We use native yeasts, hand-crafted techniques and new French Oak integration to produce new world wines with soft tannins and a naturally higher acidity. “Our philosophy is to achieve perfect equilibrium, offering approachability at an early age, but with enough structure to cellar for ten to twenty years,” says winemaker Kent Jarman. This is the very first vintage of a 100% Grenache Blanc. Already a favorite of Dr. Kenefick’s. With only 25 cases made, this wine exhibits notes and flavors of citrus and tropical fruit. Nicely balanced with acid and a long finish, this wine is great with salads, seafood, and spicy food. Refreshing.

The 2017 Sauv Blanc really hits a high note on aromatics. Tangerine oil, lychee fruit, and wild gooseberry jump out of the glass. Fresh Pomelo notes on the palate entry are underlined by silk creamy notes, finished by clean citrus elements. The Sur lee aging helps to extend the flavor profile for a long finish.
On the nose, nuances of Kaffir lime zest and anise. The palate consists of orange blossom, lemon meringue filling and a crisp, underlined, well-balanced structure and mouthfeel. Dr. Kenefick enjoys sipping this on his patio in the Summer.

Strawberry gastrique, fresh basil, nuances of lavender jump out of the glass. Fresh, bright strawberry preserve, underlined by fresh cream make the palate. 50% Merlot, 50% Malbec.
Savory notes covered in lush cherry and plum jump out of the glass as the aromatic makeup of this Syrah. Bold tannins, but well-rounded and integrated, lift up the copious jammy, rich fresh berry notes of a well textured middle palate to the finish.
We treat this Petite Sirah in a gentle manner during fermentation to allow the heavy tannin profile to integrate properly. Aromatics of dark cherry, plum and spice are enveloped in a rich, fresh berry profile. Copious velvet tannins let this wine finish very long. Good to drink now and will cellar well for the next 10-15 years.

Pluot, cherry anise and fine cocoa are exhibited on the aromatic profile. Bright red fruit and boysenberry preserves are underlined by a clean crème brulée middle.
