High quality factors such as prime location, vineyard management/hand-tended vines, low yields rigorous fruit selection, a state of the art winery, a competent winemaker with the latest winemaking tools/equipment and the best quality French oak barrels all come at enormous costs. In truth, it is difficult to produce a superlative, knock out bottle of wine every vintage . . . but we try.
At Kenefick Ranch, the wine-making begins in the vineyard and is completed in the cellar – our philosophy places equal emphasis on both. We use native yeasts, hand-crafted techniques and new French Oak integration to produce new world wines with soft tannins and a naturally higher acidity. “Our philosophy is to achieve perfect equilibrium, offering approachability at an early age, but with enough structure to cellar for ten to twenty years,” says winemaker Kent Jarman. Balanced and well-structured, Kenefick Ranch wines deliver, whether you drink them now or later.

The perfect wine set for fantastic holiday pairings.
2016 was ideal for whites. Early bud break and a pleasantly cool growing season allowed for a more open canopy to get the sun into the fruit zone. You’ll notice the fine tropical notes aromatically, and the subtle citrus twist that permeates the palate and finish. The sur lees aging and barrel fermentation provide the creamy texture on the mid-palate.
On the nose, nuances of Kaffir lime zest and anise. The palate consists of orange blossom, lemon meringue filling and a crisp, underlined, well-balanced structure and mouthfeel. Dr. Kenefick enjoys sipping this on his patio in the Summer.
300 CASES MADE.
Strawberry notes, hints of crème brulet and citrus on the nose. Fresh berry jam and cream form the palate. Firm acidity extends the finish on this refreshing Summer wine.
Savory notes covered in lush cherry and plum jump out of the glass as the aromatic makeup of this Syrah. Bold tannins, but well-rounded and integrated, lift up the copious jammy, rich fresh berry notes of a well textured middle palate to the finish.
We treat this Petite Sirah in a gentle manner during fermentation to allow the heavy tannin profile to integrate properly. Aromatics of dark cherry, plum and spice are enveloped in a rich, fresh berry profile. Copious velvet tannins let this wine finish very long. Good to drink now and will cellar well for the next 10-15 years.
Spicy notes of cedar, on top of jammy raspberry and plum nuances form the aromatic profile. Silky tannins, copious fresh berries and hints of vanilla bean make up the palate. Drink now and will cellar well for the next 8-12 years.
Notes of dark cherry, underlining baker’s chocolate and strong currant notes greet the nose out of the glass. Raspberry preserve, custard and creamy notes are supported by a well rounded tannin profile and finished by integrated red cherry notes mingling with the French Oak spicy notes.
“It is a beautiful rendition of Cabernet Franc, with dark, brooding blueberry and blackberry fruit, some forest floor and floral notes, a dense purple color, and soft, silky tannins. medium to full-bodied, this is big, juicy, complex style of wine that surprised me by its richness and intensity. It spent 18 months in new French oak and was bottled unfined and unfiltered. Drink it over the next 12-15 years.” 93 Points Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
“Rich and chocolaty, with plenty of blackberry and cassis fruit, this is pedal-to-the-metal, balls-to-the-walls sort of Cabernet, with no hard edges, velvety tannins, and a remarkable opulence and voluptuous texture. Drink it over the next 10-15 years.” 93 Points Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
Black fruit, fresh vanilla bean, tobacco leaf on the nose. Bright acidity that lifts the fresh fruit nuances on the palate, integrating well with the large yet ripe tannin profile. Good to drink now and will cellar well for the next 15-25 years.
“A significant wine, the color is a saturated ruby purple and the wine exhibits plenty of new saddle leather, crème de cassis, blackberry, truffle, charcoal and earth followed by a full-bodied, super-concentrated, layered mouthfeel that goes on for a good 45 to 50 seconds. This is a massive Cabernet Sauvignon that should drink well for 25-30 years. Don’t let that scare you away at present, because the wine has velvety tannins and is super-well-endowed and impressive.” 95 Points, Robert Parker The Wine Advocate
A blend of the five essential “Bordeaux” varietals from the Kenefick estate, this is the culmination of how the diverse profiles between varietal, soils, and microclimate can come together to create a stunning wine. Aromatically, the 2012 Founder’s Reserve jumps out of the glass with notes of cherry, fresh currants, plum, and fresh vanilla. This is underlined by plush, ripe berries on the entry, a balanced crème brûlée middle, finished by fine tannins and dark cherry that is very extended.
“A gorgeous effort and a great blend, this wine is supple even with all that Petit Verdot in it. It seems to me Kenefick is doing some special things. This wine, which comes entirely from their estate, looks to be a 15 to 25 year bottle of wine. Loads of blue and black fruits, charcoal embers, barbecue spice, earth and some subtle background oak are all present in this multidimensional, blockbuster wine. Drink it over the next 25 years.” 95 Points Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate
