Share our passion for creating the finest hand-crafted estate wines. Sourcing the highest quality fruit from his 125 producing acres, Dr. Tom Kenefick and his team create award winning wines that are unique to their terroir.
About us
Kenefick Ranch Vineyards is owned by retired San Francisco neurosurgeon Dr. Thomas P. Kenefick, and his two children Caitlin and Chris Kenefick. A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, he is a product of the University of Minnesota Medical School and the Mayo Clinic who, in 1969, ventured west and joined San Francisco Neurosurgical Medical Group. Shortly thereafter Dr. Kenefick fell in love with the Napa wine country and its products and began cultivating his new passion for wine growing and wine making.
.
In 1978 Dr. Kenefick acquired 125-acre vineyard property at the foothills of the Palisades Mountains in Calistoga. This vineyard was head pruned, dry farmed,
old Italian varietals and over the next 20 years these were replaced with Bordeaux varietals on vertical shoot positioning and drip irrigating for higher quality grapes. Over the years, he has been selling to a number of world class wineries in Napa Valley such as Shafer, Joseph Phelps, and Pride Mountain Vineyards, among others.
Our Vineyard
Kenefick Ranch consists of 125 acres of mostly red Bordeaux varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Sauvignon Blanc and Musque as well as Voignier Marsanne and Grenache Blanc are also grown for white wine, in addition to Petite Sirah and Syrah. Ten percent of production is used in Kenefick Ranch wines while the rest of the fruit is sourced out to Etude, Lewis Cellars, Cade-Plumpjack, Merryvale, Behrens & Hitchcock, Sinatra Family Estate, Caymus and a few other small producers.
Take a visual tour of our vineyard from early Spring through Harvest! Nestled on the Western slopes of the Palisades Mountain Range in North Napa Valley, natural beauty abounds and we are never short of inspiration.
Our Winemakers
Josh Krupp was the original winemaker before moving to Australia in 2005. In 2006, Kent Jarman left Duckhorn to join Robbie Meyer in making Kenefick Ranch wines and one year later became our sole Winemaker. His obsession with consistency and quality produces outstanding wines. Kent also currently makes Sinatra Family, and most recently Somerston wines.
Our Portfolio
Our hand-crafted, Estate Grown wines capture the character of their terroir and of Dr. Tom Kenefick who has farmed the 125 acre vineyard over the past two decades. We invite you to discover yourself wines that speak of the place, the man and his vision.
